Phototherapy: reconciling yourself with your image

photothérapie

How many of us will not perceive the image we hoped for, what we believe it should be, with the risk of feeling affected, even of devaluing ourselves and losing self-confidence, instead of putting into question this idealized model imposed by society? As one might suspect, this image to which we should conform evokes youth, success, strength, dynamism, fulfillment, happiness and even sexuality. With this illusory image comes a procession of expectations that are often very difficult to assume and achieve. Many people do not want to, or find this weight too heavy to carry, with, unbeknownst to them, the option of gaining or losing it in material reality. How many feelings and emotions conveyed by a fleeting perception seem likely to generate personal trouble or deeper discomfort.

Every body has its own story!

Artist-photographer, I have been working for years with the body, the nude and movement. For me the body makes sense, I was particularly interested in the work of the nude by treating it in close-ups to achieve the improbable synthesis of the poetic of body. My latest work is devoted to the fate of the body over the years. If the prism of physical performance organizes the Western vision of the body, does not capturing the effects of passing time offer the opportunity for another point of view? What questions me today in this change of perspective is the possibility of moving over time towards states of speaking bodies, visions of happy bodies, no matter the age.

My gaze focuses on the body crossed by what it is and what it says, its representation constitutes not only an object, but a tool for thinking about the world. Without anticipating the form, I want to focus on what the body produces and not on what it risks duplicating and reproducing. Photography-phototherapy allows you to take a step back from your own image and to have a more indulgent and neutral look at yourself.

If I am so interested in body image, it is because each body has its own story. You have a body, you may not have the body you want but you need it. You also have a body which is said to have a language, whose image never ceases to speak and this (too) often without your knowledge. Photography/phototherapy allows you to confront the capture of your own image and therefore, in a certain way, to face yourself. Without the aesthetic aim which is not appropriate here, photography/phototherapy is a powerful tool which guarantees authenticity in the process of affecting one's reality through images.

See yourself from another angle...

The support through phototherapy that I offer is a personal approach which aims first and foremost to help with personal development and self-esteem. The perspective is to reconcile oneself with one's image, to reconnect with one's body, and to accept oneself as one is through the medium of photography. It is emotional work that allows you to lay yourself bare without having to explain yourself verbally and go through mental resistance.

I photograph you as you are, without any artifice but with gentleness and kindness. In complete confidentiality, with respect and non-judgment, you will become aware of the underlying interests of being in this body, of experiencing it in this emotional state, with this weight or this non-love of you.

Discover yourself with phototherapy…

With the help of emotional visualizations, with the work of the body in front of the mirror and the successive shots, you will be able to gradually let the emotions emerge, express themselves, tell yourself, free themselves... It is an emotional work which allows to gradually expose oneself a little more, without necessarily having to explain it and without having to justify it. This work will allow you to accept and welcome the person you really are, to look at yourself differently and to reclaim your body and your history.

And live differently

With this progressive awareness where I am at your side continuously, the objective is to access at the end of the sessions a broader self-understanding and a better personal acceptance in order to reconnect with this joy of being yourself which may have been lost from sight.

The photographic support approach that I propose is based on the artistic approach to seeking well-being. It is implemented from the intimate and lived conviction of the therapeutic benefits of an artistic practice but it is also based on the experience of personal work. Phototherapy support is always personalized, it takes place in the confidential setting of a professional photography studio, in one or more sessions agreed after an initial contact.
